Scholarship Application:
2025 Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway

Deadline: October 1, 2024, 11:59pm EDT

A panel of judges will review submissions and make selections based on a combination of merit and need. IT IS FREE TO APPLY.

We can only consider one application per writer and recommend submitting your strongest work. It's fine if you submit work in a different genre than your desired workshop.

What are the requirements for all scholarships?:

  • Be a first-time Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway participant 18 years of age or older as of Jan. 17, 2025.
  • Prepare a brief biography, a paragraph describing your financial need, and a brief personal statement telling us why you would like to attend, each 150 words or less.
  • Format a single Word or PDF document with up to 4 pages of prose (double spaced), or up to 3 poems or 3 song lyrics (single spaced, one poem or song per page). Excerpts of longer pieces are okay. Please note that if your submission exceeds these lengths and/or does not meet the formatting guidelines, we will not be able to consider it.
  • Submit this online application.

We are unable to accept snail mail applications.

Which scholarship(s) should I apply for?:

  • In submitting this application form, you are simultaneously applying for the Faculty Memorial Scholarship and the Community Memorial Scholarship. Application requirements for these opportunities (listed above) are identical.
  • If you are aged 60+ residing in Atlantic County, NJ, you will also automatically qualify for the SCOSA Scholarship opportunity.
  • If you are a writer of color, select the Robert Hayden Scholarship option to simultaneously apply for an additional opportunity.
